The Ashoka Community Leader Award
Named after the socially innovative, ethical, and compassionate leadership of the Buddhist King Ashoka in 268 BCE, this award honors the community member who has cumulatively donated the largest sum of money to funding sessions for those in need. This award is fluid and ongoing, held by whoever’s currently on top of the donation leaderboard.
Example:
Mohammad pays the full rate of $50/session:
Donates 15% per session
$50 × 0.15 = $7.50 donated per session
Mohammad would win the Ashoka Community Leadership Award by having donated the highest sum of money to people in need. While Yari would win the Dorothy Day Selfless Generosity Award for donating proportionally more of her total resources than Mohammad. This way, Mohammad gets recognized for changing the world the most, while Yari gets recognized for being the most selfless
The current holder of the Ashoka Community Leader Award receives a 25% discount on the price of their sessions for as long as they hold the award.
The Dorothy Day Selfless Generosity Award
Named after Dorothy Day’s radically compassionate and selfless giving of what little she had to those who had even less, this award honors the community member who has donated the largest percentage of their total session rate to funding sessions for those in need. This award is fluid and ongoing, held by whoever’s currently on top of the donation leaderboard.
Example:
Yari pays $35/session on a sliding scale:
Donates 20% per session
$35 × 0.20 = $7 donated per session
Yari would win the Dorothy Day Selfless Generosity Award for donating proportionally more of her total resources than Mohammad. While Mohammad would win the Ashoka Community Leadership Award by having donated the most money total to people in need. This way, Mohammad gets recognized for changing the world the most, while Yari gets recognized for being the most selfless
The current holder of the Dorothy Day Selfless Generosity Award receives a 25% discount on the price of their sessions for as long as they hold the award.
